Welcome to Hakua Cattery
My name is Jill Smith and I run my cattery on a small scale so that I can concentrate on quality rather than quantity. My goal is to breed healthy cats with a good natured temperament and show quality characteristics.
Burmese cats are affectionate, playful, intelligent and full of character. For this reason I fell in love with them and found that they made wonderful companions. In 2003 I took the next step and became a breeder so that I can share the Burmese experience with others.
I have Carol Leibelt to thank for her advice and friendship in helping me set up the cattery, and trusting me with my first two queens, Mandelai Margarita and Mandelai Obsession. Her stud boys Mabu Jackson and Hinobe helped produce beautiful healthy kittens with wonderful temperaments.
I have now bred my own queens, Hakua Mamma Mia and Hakua Windsong, and would like to thank Janine Cooper (from Tasmania) for trusting me with a stud boy Creswell Lilac Comet and Barb Ackerman for queens Lushei Marlie Magic and Lushei Elley Rose.
Our kittens are considered to be part of our family. Because they are raised in our home, they are comfortable with household noises and accustomed to being handled. Our kittens typically have a playful, inquisitive nature who rarely say no to a pat, game or a cuddle.
Hakua kittens are ready to go at around 12 weeks. We insist that they be kept as indoor pets and are only available to special, approved owners. The purchasing price includes their first two vaccinations, desexing, worming, vet checks, toilet training, and pedigree papers.
Hakua Cattery is a registered breeder and is affiliated with the Feline Association and the Governing Council of South Australia.
